Change Tracking was a much anticipated feature in SQL Server 2008. Prior to SQL Server 2008, SQL DBAs had to code complex triggers and archive tables in order to track changes made to their database tables.
Change tracking in SQL Server 2008 enables applications to obtain only changes that have been made to the user tables, along with some information about those changes. With change tracking integrated into SQL Server, complicated custom change tracking solutions no longer have to be developed.
